Guess who's coming to town!I heard this man is coming to town.....this time, I am not going to miss it like the last I did! Why not Malaysia?I hear Hong Kong lawmakers are making a fuss about Gotham City's favorite son, Batman, making a movie in Hong Kong. Hello - if they don't feel like having it there, I suggest producers of the next installment film it in KL or anywhere else in Malaysia. After all, we have a great cinematographic scenic places that they can shoot "Dark Knight" here. I am all for it. After all, that is how is should be. The Gods Must be CrazyIt's Sunday. Lazy as usual but Carol was waiting to see this show for awhile now. "The Gods Must be Crazy" has been playing on Astro's StarMovies for quite sometime now. However, it seems it was shown at odd hours. Hence, we became quite agitated when we noticed the Astro Guide book left the entire Star Movies guide out. We called Astro and were told that there was a "technical error" . So we finally caught this interesting movie. Probably done in the late 70s, this shown was a "winner". The arrival of the "evil thing" into the family of the Bushmen in the Kalaharis has made things unpleasant. The "evil thing" was naturally a Coca-Cola bottle thrown out from a propeller plane into the desert. Interesting show which shows the simplistic life of a Bushmen and how he took the trouble to travel to the edge of the forest to dispose the "evil thing"..... Carol and I enjoyed the show immensely. Not because it was about a blockbuster movie with lots of effects, but it has so many elements of unusual scenes and funny dialogues. One must not miss this show. It's definitely a good show to greet your weekend with humor and laughter. It's showing right now. Laughing my head off and the usual "aye yai yai yai yai yai" phrases....can be heard throughout the movie... If you have a chance, go catch it! Brings back so many good memories about the early 80s... A must watch movie -RATATOUILLESince it's my day off today, we decided to catch this cute and adorable movie. Didn't go there with any heighten expectation other than it's Wednesday and movies go for Rm6 per person than the normal Rm10. Kids went at Rm5 per person. The show started off modestly and in between the show, the plot became interesting. Somehow, if one loves to cook, you will learn a fair bit about the passion of cooking. Yes - Remy the French rat loves cooking. The show was great and I enjoyed it very much. I didn't realize that the show went on for about an hour and a half and I actually wanted more of Remy to be in the movie. Guess the magic of Disney and Pixar helped to make the characters realistic. I am sure we would have missed this show if not for my curiosity when I read some of the interesting reviews about this show. If you have not seen it yet, I won't be a spoiler. All I can say is this - I have a warm fuzzy feeling after seeing this movie. A well made movie with good "lessons" to share with young kids and adults alike. Go catch it...you won't regret it ! Radio 24 is now on air (only in Klang Valley)It's about time. Time to have a radio station fully dedicated to broadcasting news. Nothing but news 24X7. Of course the format should be acceptable in major cities around Malaysia. However, only Klang Valley residents will receive broadcast accordingly. Radio24 offers local and world news through its hourly news bulletins, half-hourly news highlights and newsbreaks at anytime as and when they occur through live coverage and cross-overs. Interesting eh? I am sure many of you would probably agree that the current format by AMP stations and few other privately owned stations will be shunned away by those who are hungry for all sorts of news. So, if you are living around the Klang Valley, be sure to tune your radio to 93.9 FM. I am a major news freak. Can't wait for it to be shown to the rest of the country. So, at this moment, just listening via the internet....as they have live streaming.
I am truly excited...very very excited. Read here The weekend of downloadsOne of the most influential TV program that I watched when I was young was Ultraman. Strangely enough, the program continues to draw influence from viewers of all ages. Although the programs back then was dubbed in Bahasa Malaysia, I managed to catch some of the different versions in English. Many would have agreed privately and openly that these programs played a vital role in generating interest amongst young Malaysians. I saw the first Ultraman in black and white when I was only 7 years old. Today, both Jefferson and Cornelius are enjoying the latest versions in color and modernized film effects of a Japanese superhero character "Ultraman" Jefferson threw me a challenge last week to download all the theme songs from Ultraman. Seriously, the show started way back from 1970s till today. Getting all the theme songs will definitely be challenge. But again, thanks to Google, I managed to find a site that allows me to download a cd made to commemorate Ultraman's 25 years anniversary. It took me 2 days to download the complete 2 cd complilation of Ultraman theme songs. In tribute of this wonderful program, I am attaching the cd cover of the theme songs compilation. Care for any Ultraman songs? Write to me ya! After all, it's in Japanese. Lust,CantonDidn't this show was partly made at our own backyard, Weld Quay? Gosh - now it's been rated NC17 - containing explicit sex scenes. Well, at least Penang gets some taste of its controversy. Hmmm....probably wanna catch this show when it ever gets to our shores in Malaysia. I seriously doubt it now. Duran Duran's latest "Night Runner"This is the latest single from the upcoming Duran Duran's album. This album promises a different Duran Duran sound. Lots of collaboration with the maestro of the american funk - Justin Timberlake as well as Timbaland. I am excited with this latest sound...... A tribute to Ultraman
Plot 1 Scene 1 - (dubbed in Bahasa Malaysia) Lobster monster attacks Tokyo. Member of GUTS cursed "tak guna" (useless monster). Monster beams and wipes out the entire subway track at Downtown Tokyo. Tanks, aeroplanes attacked the monster effortlessly.
Plot 1 Scene 2 - Ultraman Tiga appears. Started to kick the monster around. Monster continues to defend and instead Ultraman failed in his attack. His "life beam" starts to beep beep indicating weakening of his strength.
Plot 1 Scene 3 Ultraman decided to beam the monster to pieces. Crowd cheers.
I grew up watching all series of Ultraman. Somehow, I always ended up cheering for Ultraman for killing the monster. Carol actually brought up a good point tonite. Ultraman has been delighting us since we were like 5 years old. Today, our kids are being delighted by new generations of Ultraman. Guess the message is this - Good "tom yams" evil. Ultraman represents goodness and monsters all alike - evil creatures. Another thing is why can't Ultraman apply the 80 / 20 rule? 80 results with 20 pct effort - how ? By just using his deadly beam to wipe out the lobster monster? Maybe it was Tokyowood plot. I am glad we had Ultraman. I know it will invoked your memories deep in your heart. Still remember waiting for the program to start at 5pm on Sat 30 years ago. Black and white TV and the imaginary friend known as Ultraman. Today, my 2 boys watch the program on Astro Ceria. Ultraman Tiga with great looking Japanese ladies and handsome men. I wonder if they were chosen to attract an older generation of ultraman fanatics. I must admit I still love the program. I remember watching a glimpse of it in the US on US Network 10 years ago. Got me pretty worked up. Since it's a great night tonite, I am dedicating this blog to Ultraman. Check him out. You will know more of him here! It's about choices stupid!Sometimes I feel like screaming out my lungs just to say this. Stop harassing entertainers and apply your moral judgement on them just because they dress differently. Is this the attitude of a progressive society? After all, you have a choice not to attend a function or concert. Leave as it's and society will judge the entertainer based on what she does. It's about to stop "barking" at Gwen. I am not a big fan of hers but of late, I believe there are groups in the country that choose to be moral defenders of the society. Stop barking now and get a life. If you think a concert will encourage immorality amongst the youth in this country, go suck eggs. It's time to shut up and leave the decision to each and everyone of us in Malaysia. After all, if you don't enjoy Western music, it does not mean you should judge any foreign acts the way you judge everyone in this country. I am not a racialist but a true believer of liberal thoughts with self restraint. If leaders can "close one eye"; call each bloggers "pondan" or even globoks, what make these groups different from anyone else? Hence, it starts with the leaders. But I must confess, I am one crazy monkey - confirmed one and not one that hides behind the veil of "political staircases or even corridors of power.
SO SHUT UP , will you? It's about choices and it's not for you to decide for us! Good nite folksRemember this dialogue:
Bionic Woman - she's back!Enough said about politics! Well...guess what, this Fall, NBC in the US will be premiering the series - BIONIC WOMAN. Not too sure when we will be catching it. Heroes will be premiering its new season. Hopefully, this new remake of Bionic Woman will give a fresh air start to many of this generation to enjoy a program watched by many of Gen X crowd! Great movie then. Hope this one is good! Guess who we met finally....Family and I decided to take a short trip to a local college. We heard that JD Chin (Red Fm) was in town. Anyway, just thought the boys would meet up with him. After all, we have been listening to Red Fm faithfully since 2005 end. Didn't manage to catch a picture of him but have a stolen photo taken from Red Fm.
![]() Lions for LambsSurprisingly, this new movie seems interesting. It's clearly a thriller with great stars in it. Robert Redford, Merlyn Streep and Tom Cruise. One of the catch all phrase which I saw on the trailer " What and why is not important anymore. How do we move forward". Obviously, this show has connections with the current War on Terror plots. Can't wait for the show to hit the screens. Click here to find out more... What a shocker....and a surpriseAs I reeled with disbelief, Nisha announced her departure from Red Fm at the end of August. First, it was Nell and David. Next it was Nisha. Looks like Red Fm is undergoing some major shakedown. Sadly, it started promisingly but now it's again undergoing major "renovation" I am sure it's for the good of the station but listeners who are loyal to the station will definitely change their radio frequencies with the new crew coming on board. SPICE GIRLSGuess what! The marketing machinery of Simon Fuller is gearing up to overdrive now. If you are a big Spice Girls fan, they have just added 2 more concert locations for their coming World tour. Being a big fan of their music, I believe they are taking their tour based on online voting. That is a cool effort. Hence, if you are one of the big fans of this group, check this location out and vote for your favorite town for them to come over.....Vote now Vote for either Singapore or KL!

Many at times we hear of Jagoh Kampong (Village Champs) who become famous because they are well-known within the shores of Malaysia. Today, the world will hear Che’nelle....she is no ordinary Jagoh Kampong but one who has just signed up with Virgin Records in the US. Born at Tuaran,Sabah, she is now resident in New Jersey.
With her fame on the rise, she left her growing up place since 10 years old, Perth to explore a new record deal. That is what I call International Star!! Harry Potter...Well, finally went to watch the movie. Amongst the summer movies, I was struggling with this one. Not a big Harry Potter fan and I guess I "conveniently" missed the other 2 segments. I had a big challenge following the plot and I guess being a movie fan, I managed to put the plots together. Not a so-great movie. Jefferson and Cornelius enjoyed the show very much. Anyway, hope you have had a great weekend. Take good care.. Yummmy...Spice Girls are back!To Carol's delight, her favorite band is finally back for areunion. Like many other reunions, this all-girl band was the band we were swinging to back in the early 90s until they vanished due to common squabblings. I am sure die-hard Spice Girls. Guess all the cute ladies in the group are either a mummy or a soon to be mummy. Strangely, Sporty Spice has become 'BIG' in some places as well as Mrs. David Beckham. As usual, groups like this tend to tease their fans. I can see Carol dreaming about herself being in either Hong Kong or Sydney watching the SPICE GIRLS. Carol loves Geri very much. When she left the group, Carol was devastated. For more information about their concert dates, here it's: Los Angeles on Dec. 7; Las Vegas on Dec. 8; New York on Dec. 11; London on Dec. 15; Cologne, Germany, on Dec. 20; Madrid, Spain, on Dec. 23; Beijing on Jan. 10; Hong Kong on Jan. 12; Sydney, Australia, on Jan. 17; Cape Town, South Africa, on Jan. 20; and Buenos Aires, Argentina on Jan. 24. |
